What is the TNPSC Group 1 examination?
The TNPSC Group 1 examination is Tamil Nadu's most prestigious competitive exam, conducted annually by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. A single examination selects for Group 1 posts including Deputy Collector, DSP, Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO), Deputy Tahsildar, District Registrar and others.
About 2.5 lakh candidates apply each year. ~4,500 clear Prelims, ~1,000 clear Mains, and 250-400 are finally selected. The 2026 recruitment notifies ~250 vacancies.

Indian citizen, Bachelor's degree, Tamil Nadu domicile required. Tamil language is mandatory — must have studied Tamil in SSLC or HSC, or pass a separate Tamil qualifying test.
