1. Who we are
Padho.club is operated by Multilingo Education Private Limited, a company incorporated in India. We publish exam-preparation content (UPSC, MPSC, TSPSC, TNPSC, WBCS and related state PSCs), NCERT solutions, daily current affairs digests, and free study tools, in English and several Indian languages (Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Bangla, Tamil).
For the purposes of the DPDP Act, Multilingo is the Data Fiduciary in respect of personal data processed through padho.club.
2. What data we collect
2.1 Information you give us directly
- Email address — if you subscribe to current-affairs digests, app launch notifications, or a newsletter.
- Name and phone number — only if you choose to share them when contacting us or signing up inside one of our apps.
- Exam preference & language — for example UPSC / MPSC / TNPSC, English / Hindi / Marathi. This helps us show you the right content.
- Message content — anything you write to us at hello@padho.club or through a contact form.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device & browser information — user-agent, screen size, operating system, referrer URL.
- Approximate location — coarse country/state from IP address, used only to show the right state PSC app card and pick a default language. We do not store precise GPS coordinates.
- Usage events — pages visited, time on page, clicks on app CTAs, language toggles. We do this through privacy-respecting analytics (see section 5).
2.3 What we do NOT collect
We do not knowingly collect Aadhaar numbers, PAN, bank account details, biometric data, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or political opinions. If you accidentally share any of this with us, we will delete it promptly.
3. Why we collect it (lawful purposes)
We process personal data only for these specific purposes:
- To run and improve padho.club — serve pages, fix bugs, count visits, measure which content is useful.
- To deliver the service you asked for — for example, sending the daily current affairs email if you subscribed.
- To recommend the right exam-prep app for your region and language.
- To reply to your questions, feedback or complaints.
- To comply with applicable Indian law and respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
4. Consent & lawful basis under the DPDP Act
Under Section 6 of the DPDP Act, we rely on your consent for processing personal data such as your email subscription, and on certain legitimate uses (Section 7) for things like keeping the site secure and meeting legal obligations.
You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in our emails, or by writing to privacy@padho.club. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing done before withdrawal.
5. Cookies & analytics
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:
- Essential — to remember your chosen interface language and theme. These cannot be switched off.
- Analytics — we use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to count anonymous visits, popular pages, and rough country-level location. We do not use these cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. Where required, we ask for your consent through a banner.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies; doing so may break language preferences but will not block access to content.
6. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell or rent personal data. We share limited data only with:
- Service providers who help us run the site — web hosting, email delivery, analytics. They process data only on our instructions, under written contracts.
- Public authorities — if required by Indian law, a court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users.
- Successors — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.
If we use any third-party services (for example, an embedded YouTube video on a study page), that third party's own privacy policy will apply to data they collect.
7. How long we keep your data
- Newsletter / digest subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
- Support emails: typically 24 months after the last interaction, then deleted.
- Server & analytics logs: up to 14 months, after which they are aggregated or deleted.
- Records required by law: for the period the law prescribes.
8. Security
We use reasonable security practices — encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, hardened hosting, and limited internal access — consistent with Rule 8 of the IT (Reasonable Security Practices) Rules, 2011 and the DPDP Act. No system is perfectly secure; in the event of a personal data breach, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India and affected users as required by law.
9. Your rights as a Data Principal
Under Sections 11–14 of the DPDP Act you have the right to:
- Access a summary of your personal data and how it is processed.
- Correct, complete, update or erase your personal data.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
- Nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of incapacity or death.
- Grievance redressal — raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer (section 13), and, if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@padho.club from the address associated with your data. We will respond within the time frame prescribed by law (presently 30 days from receipt).
10. Children's privacy
Padho.club content is aimed at school students (Class 9 and above), college students and adult exam aspirants. We treat any user we believe to be under 18 as a child under the DPDP Act, and obtain verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian before processing their data. We do not run behavioural advertising or tracking against children. If you believe a child has shared personal data with us without parental consent, please write to privacy@padho.club and we will delete it.
11. International transfers
Our servers are primarily located in India. Some of our service providers (e.g. email delivery, analytics) may process data in other countries. Where we transfer personal data outside India, we do so only to jurisdictions not notified by the Central Government as restricted under Section 16 of the DPDP Act, and under appropriate safeguards.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will give you notice (for example, by email or a prominent notice on the site) before the change takes effect.
