Legacy: the Nehruvian template
Nehru’s 17-year tenure shaped India’s mixed-economy socialism, parliamentary democracy, secularism, scientific temper (IITs from 1951, AIIMS 1956, ISRO predecessor INCOSPAR 1962, BARC), and non-aligned foreign policy. The Nehru-Liaquat Pact 1950 (minorities protection), the Indus Waters Treaty 1960 with Pakistan (mediated by World Bank), and the 1962 China debacle are recurring PYQs. Bharat Ratna 1955. Anand Bhavan + Teen Murti Bhavan are museums. 14 November (his birthday) is celebrated as Children’s Day in India.
